Thoughts on a Friday Evening

After I got home from being on the road all week, here are some random thoughts:

*This tea party nonsense is really incredible. It really shows how desperate the Republican Party is after the 2008 election. The very people who flaunted wearing flag lapel pins and put yellow ribbons on their cars are now calling for an overthrow of our government and secession. Some patriots!!!!

*Isn't incredibly disingenuous on the part of some local officials to take such hard line anti-tax positions??? Senator Maziarz is the champion of the taxpayer. Yet, where was he when he was in the majority and his buddy Pataki was Governor??? Spending grew and the NYPA was sweeping money and screwing Niagara County royally. By the way, Maziarz was Chairman of the Energy Committee when the new 30 yr deal for NYPA was negotiated. How come he didn't do something about our rates then??

*Unfortunately, Senator Thompson is no better. How about growing a set and stand up for your constituents. Oh I forgot, if you did that you probably would lose office staff, your committee chairmanships and campaign funding from the State party.

*While the County is sinking further into despair, the County Legislature is going to sue the State to get more casino money. Kind of like Nero, these 19 are fiddling while Rome burns.

*Mayor Dyster is a good guy and a great change from the previous mayor. However, could someone please tell him that Donna Owens is killing him!!! I don't know of anyone who has anything good to say about her.

*Conservatives are outraged about Homeland Security warning about right wing extremists. In case these morons forgot, the second largest terrorist attack on American soil was Oklahoma City. This is what happens when you have morons like Hannity and Beck spewing their garbage. These guys and their ilk are domestic terrorists.

*Kudos to MSNBC to putting Ed Schultz on the air. The Ed Show is great, and Big Eddie really knows how to get after these conservative windbags!!!!

*While I've been on the road for awhile, a friend of mine told me this evening that The John Restaino Show is going off the air. What a shame!!!! I thoroughly enjoyed the show and I thought John did an excellent job. I wonder if there is any way we could keep him on the air.

*And finally, I'm thinking its Pittsburgh and Chicago in the Stanley Cup finals. It may be a stretch but there is no clear cut favorite so anything can happen!!!!
