Add Up The Damage of George W. Bush

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/30/opinion/30herbert.html?_r=1&em Read this article and remember it when the neocons try to rewrite history (as they are attempting to do now) about what a great president Bush was.

Random thoughts for a Thursday Evening

As I'm watching the N.U. game some thoughts have come to mind:

1.) Isn't it interesting that you have heard nothing from the mainstream media about Sen. Carl Levin's call for an independent bipartisan Commission to investigate the approval of torture by the Bush Administration. At the end of the day, it could result in criminal proceedings of the likes of Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice and Gonzalez. Not one mention of this!!!

2.) I'm tired of the people who are advocating the importance of naming a WNYer to fill Hillary's Senate seat. I like Brian Higgins and Byron Brown but they would be no match for a downstate Republican whether its King or Giuliani. The experience charge against Caroline Kennedy is lame. Did Hillary ever get elected to political office before she became Senator?? This is about putting someone in that spot who can bring about change, is honest, has good judgment and has an ear in the White House. Seems like Caroline's our girl.

3.) As I have predicted over and over, the neo-cons cannot accept the fact that Barack Obama is President. They want to continue to bash away. The ant-American swines that they are!!!!! You don't have to go far to find them, just listen to the John Restaino Show. Between Al and "Billo the Clown Jr." Del its totally ridiculous. I don't know how you do it John!!!

4.) I really believe that the revisionist history currently going on to try to make Bush look decent is ridiculous. What's more ridiculous is that Bush is actually leading the charge. The guy's delusional!!!

5.) Niagara wins 67-62!!!!

$50B Down The Sink Hole In Iraq, None For The American Auto Industry

$50 billion spent on failed rebuilding projects in Iraq, yet the G.O.P. won't spend $15 billion for the American Auto Industry to save American jobs. On top of the fact that the $50 billion was misspent and did not accomplish anything. Let's hear if there is any neo-con outrage about this misuse of American taxpayer dollars!!!!

Wright, Ayers, Blogo: Enough All Ready, YOU LOST!!!!!

The revelations of the Senate seat for sale scheme by Governor Blogo of Illinois has provided the latest opportunity for the neo-con Republican Party to try to discredit and tear down President-Elect Barack Obama. It's sad that this is what the Grand Old Party has relegated itself too but it is a prelude of what the next 4 years will be from these vicious power hungry neo-con terrorists.

Let's examine what we know. Gov. Blogo has been under investigation for months, prior to the November election. The investigation centered around kick backs for the awarding of state contracts and state jobs. Many believe that Prosecutor Fitzgerald came out with this indictment to prevent a tainted Senate appointment. In fact, many in the legal community are saying that the Senate seat indictment is probably the weakest of what Fitzgerald has on the delusional Blogo.

We know that Fitzgerald has said that President-Elect Obama is not being investigated nor is he on any of the tapes that has been amassed against the Governor. In fact, Blogo is caught on tape cursing Obama.

Now the big swirling controversy is whether or not anyone on Obama's staff is involved with Blogo. Specifically, the focus is on Rahim Emanuel. Is it out of the realm of possibility that Emanuel or anyone else on Obama's team had a conversation about the Senate seat with the Governor??? It would seem that it would only be a normal course of business that this would happen in that Emanuel is pretty adept at Illinois politics and if I were Governor I would certainly want input as to who would be a successful choice. If there was some sort of deal making, quid pro quo between Emanuel or any other Obama staffer why wouldn't it have come out??? We know that candidate #5 is Jesse Jackson Jr. Fitzgerald is a no nonsense prosecutor. If there was more involved we would know about it.

So where does this all leave us??? The neo-con shills in the media and the dopes who run the Republican Party are going to beat the drum: See we were right, we don't know everything about this Obama guy. Change my eye, he's another crooked Illinois politician. Remember Tony Rezko?? This is happening right here in our own backyard. Look at the latest post on niagaratimes.com.

Instead of getting the message that an overwhelming majority of this country have rejected their neo-conservative, religious right-wing extremist position, they are intent on tearing down the new President. In a previous post I warned that this is what would happen. Remember Whitewater and Ken Starr??? The Limbaughs and Hannitys of the world will continue to talk about this for months, always casting a cloud on what is on those tapes. How come Emanuel won't come clean? Shouldn't there be an investigation?? Is Obama telling the truth???

Where is the outrage over Donald Rumsfeld authorizing torture at Guantanamo Bay?? Where is the outrage over Cheney, Rove and Libby outing a CIA agent?? Where is the outrage over Bush approving the torture policy?? Where is the outrage over Bush pardoning Libby?? Where is the outrage over the thousands of no-bid contracts that the Bush/Cheney Administration has handed out to its cronies??? Where is the outrage at the Party of Stevens, DeLay, Foley, Craig and Duke Cunningham??? Where is the outrage over the total disregard for the people of New Orleans during Katrina??? Where is the outrage over Abu Graib?? Where is the outrage for the pay for influence scheme involving Jack Abramoff??? Where is the outrage over the flat out lies used to justify going into Iraq which has cost us over 3500 American lives, many more permanently injured and $12 billion dollars a month??? And finally, where is the outrage over the fact that the neo-con chicken hawks allowed Osama Bin Laden, the mastermind that killed 3,000 American on Sept.11, to get away???

We are facing an economic crisis which threatens the very fabric of our country. We have witnessed the total disregard for this crisis by the callous disregard for the American auto industry by the likes of Vitter, Shelby, Corker, McConnell and company. Yet, we are going to focus on Gov.Blogo and look to continue rumor and innuendo that somehow or another President-Elect Obama is involved when the facts don't support it. ENOUGH!!! YOU LOST!!! The latest polls indicate that Obama has one of the highest approval ratings of any incoming President. Once again, the neo-cons are out of touch with the American people. Americans want leadership. Americans want solutions. Americans want an end to the partisan crap that has dominated Wasington for 20 years.

As lefties, we need to go after these neo-con windbags whenever we need to. No blatant lie can go unanswered just like during the campaign. They will try everything in their power to discredit Obama. They did the same thing to Clinton. The neo-con right wing religious fanatics are like trapped rats. And when a rat is trapped they will attack. We must be ready!!!

The Civil War Again: The Auto Bailout!!!!

Senate Republicans opposition to the $14 billion bailout is the re-enactment of the Civil War. Corkum and Shelby, the new Jefferson Davis and Robert E. Lee, are the biggest hypocrites going. The fact of the matter is that federal dollars were used to build the Toyota and Honda plants in their home states. I don't recall any outrage about federal dollars being used then?

The frontal assault on the UAW is a joke. Look, I'm not going to deny that the union had lived high off the hog but so had management. The UAW has made concessions and are continuing to do so. But what has the upper management and corporate shareholders of Chrysler and GM given back??? They each have their own jets??? Are you kidding me???

Corkum, Shelby, Vitter and company are hypocritical, un-American political terrorists!!! They are willing to let this industry and the economy go to hell in order to break the union and protect their state interests. To hell with the working man of the Northeast and Midwest!!! Screw those yankees!!! These political terrorists should be ashamed of themselves. Isn't it funny but the Big 3 has to jump through hoops but Wall Street, the banks and the rest of the corporate bastards got billions with NO STRINGS!!!

Where is the outrage from these cost conscious conservative windbags when Bush and company are spending $12 billion a month in Iraq!!! And we can't spend $14 billion to save American jobs and the American auto industry!!!!

I'm so tired of the double standard by these right wing pompous do-nothings. This is why we need to keep the heat on and continue to fight. Hopefully, Bush will have a conscience and do the right thing by taking money from the Wall Street bailout and diverting it to the auto industry. That should hold us over until after January.

P.S.: Look for my next blog on the Illinois governor scandal. If you think I'm upset now wait for that one!!!!!

Bush's Last Days No Different Than The Rest

The last two and a half months of the disasterous Bush presidency is a microcosm of the entire 8 years: a total lack of leadership. At a time when the country needs leadership, Bush is lamenting that he will be losing his chef!! But what do you expect from a man who never understood his responsibility when he became president. After 9/11, instead of asking Americans to sacrifice for the sake of security he told us to go shopping. Instead of challenging us to be more concerned about the environment, he totally refuted the Kyoto protocols and had the energy industry establish environmental policy. Eveything you read about this president we find that he is not intellectually curious and in fact is rather simplistic. This is scary because we are dealing with complicated times that requires insightful and skilled leadership. And that is why we find ourselves in the mess that we are in both at home and abroad. These past 8 years we have hada president who has governed as if he was in charge of a frat house. Just looking to take what he could. What a shame!!! But there is hope. Unfortunately we have until January 20th and who knows what more damage can be done by this moron who continues to exhibit no leadership. But why should we expect anything different now. What a disgrace!!!

Caroline Kennedy For U.S. Senate

Democratic sources are reporting that Caroline Kennedy has expressed interest in succeeding Hillary Clinton and I say Governor just do it!!!! Kennedy's support for President Obama could help the state dramatically if she were to be our junior senator. I don't buy the crap that it needs to be an upstater. We need someone who can deliver and Caroline Kennedy will be able to do that. I'm ready to go: Caroline in 2010!!!!!!!

Bob Confer: Are You kidding Me!!!!!!

Reading the Niagara Gazette this morning was rather enlightning while at the same time disturbing. Bob Confer, who writes a regular guest view for the paper, in today's paper has an article entitled, "Obama discriminates against gun owners". While I don't often agree with Mr.Confer I respect his view and find him to be a rational person who cares about what's going on around him. This guest view disappoints me because it seems to be the typical right-wing nonsense that has been spewed throughout the campaign and since the election results were in. First, let me say that I know Confer has nothing to do with the headline attached to his column. But the content of the article belongs to Confer.

The criticism about a question on the application for employment in the Obama administration I found ridiculous. Mr. Confer implies that ownership of a gun immediately disqualifies one from employment. What's the basis for that??? I find nothing wrong with knowing that a future employee has registered guns, how he uses the guns and whether there has been any injuries inflicted by them. There is nothing wrong with law-abiding gun owners who hunt. And what's the problem with addressing if anyone was injured with the guns???

Confer really ramps up the right wing rhetoric by saying that when the President takes the oath of office it will be an outright lie because of his contempt for the 2nd Amendment. Are you kidding me???? Especially when we have had 8 years of an administration which has trampled on the Constitution!!!! And I know Mr. Confer will say that he doesn't support Bush but to behonest I don't really buy that. If I had to bet he probably voted for Bush in 2000 and 2004.

Obama's against self-protection. Obama's against hunters. Obama wants to outright ban guns. C'mon Bob!!!! I really didn't think you were a right wing shill but I guess you were wrong. I'm sure the next article will be that Obama is a socialist because he wants a $700 billion economic stimulus package. So keep on buying guns. Stockpile them Bob. Next time you talk with a law enforcement official, ask them if they have a problem with the Clinton gun policy. I think you will be surprised.

And by the way, while you are worrying about guns, I'm worried about the mess at home and abroad that President-Elect Obama has inherited from Mr. Bush. That's what affects my life and many more around the world. Happy shooting Bob!!!!!

President-Elect Up To The Challenge

The past week and a half President-Elect Barack Obama is showing why he was elected President by a wide margin. After 8 years of gross mismanagement and incompetence, we are finally going to get a President who is ready, willing and able to lead. Please read: http://www.truthout.org/112308Z

Remember JFK

Today marks the 45th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The hopes and dreams for a better country was gunned down in Dallas 45 years ago. What makes me totally ill is that we will never know who was responsible for the most tragic murder of the 20th Century. The promise and idealism of the Kennedy Administration energized many in this country. Unfortunately, it also energized a sick element that I believe was responsible for President Kennedy's death. I can only imagine what our country may have been if he had lived. I firmly believe that we would not have been bogged down in Vietnam and that race relations would have been improved. However, this is just my belief. Our hopes and dreams were destroyed that day but I will never forget the idealism that President Kennedy instilled in many Americans. It's the same idealism and hope that President-Elect Obama has brought forth in 2008. God Bless You President John F. Kennedy.

Let's Great Real: Americans Want More Fuel Efficient Cars

Please read the attached article. I believe we must bailout the auto industry but their needs to be strings attached. The Big 3 needs to be more like Toyota, Honda, etc. More fuel efficient vehicles and the development of alternative fuel vehicles that are affordable. The dope Bush doesn't get it. Leadership is what we need out of the White House and we will get that beginning January 20, 2009. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/andrew-winston/apparently-its-the-govern_b_145353.html

More of Clinton Grandstanding

Why does those people around Hillary Clinton feel compelled to defend in every way shape or form everything that she does even if it means calling into question the veracity of the President-Elect? This morning I heard Lanny Davis and Howard Wolfson, when questioned what's taking Hillary so long to decide, say that its not sure that the position has been offered to her. Are you kidding me!!! If it hasn't been offered to her then why are there reports that she's struggling with the decision? I believe that the Clinton surrogates are painting this picture of not knowing if she was offered the job so that if she isn't named they can say it was never offered to her and not that she turned it down. This way we can continue the Hillary image.

I for one am tired of it. I don't have a problem with her being the Secretary of State but I do have a problem with the Clinton ego machine. This should be about Obama, our President-Elect, not about Bill and Hillary Clinton. Quite frankly, she should be given a deadline and if not met then pick Richardson or Kerry. This is really crap and its ridiculous.

Obama's Got It On Big 3 Aid

President-Elect Barack Obama's position on aid to the auto industry is the right course. Obama is tying aid to a commitment from the Big 3 to develop alternative fuel vehicles. Bush should have done this year's ago. This string attached to any aid can help stabilize jobs in the auto industry and also begin to address energy and environmental concerns. Hopefully, Congress will go along once Obama takes over because we can forget anything from Bush.

Kudos to Randi Rhodes and The N.F. Reporter!!

Kudos to Randi Rhodes and the Niagara Falls Reporter. First for Randi: This evening I was listening to her show and she was right on the money with where I was at the other day about us lefties needing to get to work to help President-Elect Obama. Randi spelled it out beautifully by saying that these neocon talking jerks are ratcheting up the hateful rhetoric against Barack. It was the same thing they did to Bill Clinton. She played a clip from Hannity where his guest called Obama a baby killer. The likes of Hannity, Limbaugh and Scarborough have contributed to 27% of this country being afraid of what Obama is going to do to this country. We, as lefties, need to call these pinheads out. But we also need to put pressure on our congress people and senators to do something about the unfair situation that characterizes our public airwaves. We need to regulate communications and put an end to the domination of a few. We need to enact the fairness doctrine. Think about it here in Niagara County and WNY, we have only one local liberal radio show (The John Restaino show). The rest are either nonsense crap or conservative in nature. We need to be vigilant. Right on Randi and keep on exposing them and putting the heat on.

Now the Reporter: the new edition has a front cover of a picture of Mayor Dyster and former Mayor Anello with the title "What's the Difference?" They nailed it!!! As I had in this blog the other day, we need to know who makes up this Foundation for a Better Niagara. The Reporter has gotten their hands on some e-mails which seem to implicate the Maid of the Mist, M&T Bank and some shill from HANCI. This isn't about wanting to tear down anybody. This is about accountability. This is about being transparent. This is about not allowing another Anello/Anderson situation from happening. Keep the heat on NF Reporter!!!! Hopefully, Mayor Dyster will see the error of his ways and just be up front with us. Its not in our best interest for rotating mayors every 4 years. But its also not in our best interest to be kept in the dark!!!

More On Larry Summers

I'm not advocating Larry Summers for Treasury Secretary but here's another article that illustrates that Joe Scarborough is nothing more than a neocon talking shill who despite Rodney King imitation on Wednesday can't help spewing his venom against any Democrat he sees. Please read: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/wendy-kopp/larry-summers----my-exper_b_142474.html

Paul Dyster: The Next One Term Mayor

I normally do not write about the local scene however with the indictment of former Mayor Anello in the news, I began to think about the first year of Mayor Dyster. Last November, the people of Niagara Falls voted for change when they elected Paul Dyster as mayor. There was a sense of new leadership, an end to the bickering and open government. In looking back over this year, it seems like the city's expectations are not being met.

The biggest problem that I see is how the Mayor has gone about hiriing major positions in his administration, some of which have not been filled yet almost one year in office. A year ago, the people of Niagara Falls were told that there was going to be a national search for the best and brightest. There was no mention of excluding local people from these positions if qualified. It was also stated that salary adjustments might be needed if we were to attract the best. But what wasn't told to the residents of Niagara Falls was how this was going to happen.

A secret group based out of Erie County was going to fund this national search and was going to augment salaries. When asked who is this group, Dyster says he cannot disclose that. Hmmn...why not?? The first hire was for City Administrator. The person chosen was Donna Owens, an African-American female. Certainly, a landmark hire in that Ms.Owens is the first female to hold the position. Her salary : $120,000 of which this shadowy group funds almost half. Does anyone know who else was interviewed for this job??? Do we know how many people were considered?? Someone in City Hall told me that in fact there was no other candidate considered. Ms. Owens was the only candidate that this shadowy group sought out. Hmmn...so much for open government?

Next up is an Economic Development Director. Same deal: salary over $100,000 with our Erie County mystery group paying for half the salary. How many candidates were considered?? Were there any other candidates available or did they just pick this guy out of Ohio.

Now Dyster or the shadowy group has tapped an attorney from Tonawanda as the next Corporation Counsel. The shadowy group is kicking in roughly a third of his salary. We know that Judge Robert Restaino was being considered for this job. The judge lives in the city and has a good reputation among many in Niagara Falls. What we don't know is why Dyster did not select Restaino. Again a city hall source has told me that it came down to salary and that the shadowy group has told Dyster that they would not augment any salary that a Niagara Falls person is hired for. This is unbelievable!!!! It's not like the local candidate for Corporation Counsel doesn't have the qualifications so if he's the best person for the job then why wouldn't they kick in? I guess this Erie County elite group thinks all the people in Niagara Falls are incompetent stupes!!!

This whole thing stinks to high heaven and no one seems to be concerned about it. Anello's biggest crime is that he didn't disclose to the City Council his loan with the developer before they voted. Dyster has not disclosed who these people are that are paying for these salaries. He has not disclosed who else was considered or even the number of people considered. What does this group want from Dyster??? Do they want preferential treatment on development projects?? Were they contributors to Dyster's campaign??? The only difference between Anello and Dyster is that we know that Anello personally gained from the developer. We don't know if Dyster is getting anything but the perception is that something stinks!!!!! So much for open government...So much for new leadership... The only thing that has changed is that the City Council is so docile that it doesn't have the smarts to call this whole process into question and demand that everything be disclosed. And in the end those of us left in Niagara Falls continue to watch our city fall apart. Bet on it: we will have a new mayor elected in 2011!!!!

Scarborough The Hypocrite

As I pointed out in my last blog, Morning Smoe Scarborough found religion the Wednesday after the election, only on Thursday to continue the right-wing neocon media attacks. Friday, old slick Morning Smoe kept in stride by saying that if President-Elect Obama did not select Larry Summers as his Secretary of the Treasury then he will be ignoring the financial markets and caving in to feminists. Nothing like coloring things Smoe. For those that don't know, Larry Summers was Secretary of the Treasury for President Clinton. When he left government he became President of Harvard University. As President of Harvard, Mr. Summers made a statement that indicated that girls may not have the make up to do well in math and science. I believe this ultimately led to Mr.Summers stepping down.

So Smoe takes this and figures he can continue to drum up the neocon talking points about how liberal Obama is and how its business as usual with a Democrat caving in to special interests if he doesn't select Summers. Hmmn...interesting however Smoe maybe needs to remember that he's not at some redneck bar when he is saying this stuff. First of all, let's start out by saying that Mr.Summers is extremely qualified for the Treasury position. However, not everyone in the financial markets are clamoring for his appointment. Everyone has their favorites.

Secondly, Mr. Summers truly regrets his comment about women and this comment goes against his lifetime work. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/sheryl-sandberg/what-larry-summers-has-do_b_142126.html Of course why would Smoe look into anything.

President-Elect Obama will select who should be in his cabinet the same way he selected Joe Biden as V.P.: deliberately and carefully. Unlike another candidate for President this year who happened to be of the same party as Smoe(McCain/Palin). Give it up Smoe. I'm sure were praising Rumsfeldt and Brownie and Chertoff and Gonzalez you hypocritical piece of garbage!!!!

Lefties: Let's get to work

The euphoria has died down and now its time to begin to get back to work. As progressives we need to be vigilant. The neocons and their right wing nut media types are working overdrive to derail President-Elect Obama. The lies and attacks continue. Along with the hypocrisy. Take for example Joe Scarborough. The day after the election, Morning Smoe went on a diatribe on how we need to end the gotcha politics and that we should agree to disagree. That we should move away from because my idea is different than yours I need to bury you. Hmmn...interesting that now that Smoe and his neocon buddies are running for the hills that he is preaching tolerance.

However, Smoe's new found religion lasted one day. On Thursday he sliced and diced Rahm Emanuel's indecision on accepting the Chief of Staff position to the point where he questioned Barack's leadership abilities. When Chris Matthews challenged him, Smoe resorted to defending Bush/Cheney and how their every motive was dissected. What a hypocrite!!!!

The truth of the matter is that Barack Obama is this country's best hope to end the politics of destruction. However, he has demonstrated that he is not going to allow ridiculous attacks to go unanswered. As lefties we need to be on guard and be ready to call out hypocrites like Morning Smoe. They will not rest in trying to bring Obama down. Some in the Republican Party recognize that they have to stand for something and not be constantly against something. However, the element of the Republican Party that loves Sarah Palin will salivate over attacking Obama whenever they can. We must be ready. There's plenty of work to do!!!!! And Morning Smoe I will be watching you!!!!!

AMERICA WINS!!!!

I've just recovered from celebrating having missed work yesterday. My faith has been restored in the American people. It is important that we continue to support President-Elect Obama. He has issued a challenge to us all because it will take all of us to right this country. The reaction around the world is so inspiring and is what I thought would happen. I am proud to be an American!!!! There is HOPE!!!

Today is the Day: Vote For Change!!! Vote For Hope!!! Vote For Obama

Today is the day to take back our country. To restore its honor and glory. Please take the time and vote. If you want our country to move forward, please vote for Barack Obama!!!!! Let's send the neocons off into the sunset. VOTE OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How Low Can They Go??

The 2008 Campaign will go down in the record books as the presidential campaign that was bizarre. In fact, on the Republican side it reminds one of American Idol. First, we have the selection of Sarah Palin as Vice Presidential candidate. The hockey mom, the down to earth working mom, the reformer, the maverick. In reality, THE FRAUD. Her total lack of substance on the issues of the day, her shady past affiliations with a separatist movement in Alaska, her unethical practices and abuse of power as Governor and the whacked out religious beliefs which includes being prayed over by a witch hunter!!!!!! Are you kidding me????

Then we have the most fear mongering campaign that we have seen in decades. I don't believe this country has heard about socialism and communism in a Presidential campaign since the 50's and 60's. But here in the 21st Century, old John McCain has decided that this is his only chance since he and his party are devoid of any new ideas to change America. The fact remains that he does not want to change America. That's why he voted with Bush 90% of the time. So absent new ideas, he must resort to all the old fear techniques. Socialism, muslims, terrorists and communists oh my!!!!

But the icing on the cake. The most bizarre and disgusting point of this year's presidential campaign is the elevation of a self-promoting moron as a surrogate for the McCain/Palin campaign and that is none other than Joe the Plumber. Joe the freaking Plumber, are you kidding me!!!! This guy is a loser and unfortunately it is guys like him that helped re-elect Bush in 2004. This guy and many like him are the reason that fat windbags like Limbaugh continue to thrive on the air in this country. Its guys like Joe the freaking Plumber who takes everything that these neocons say and believe it and the neocons knnow it. Its guys like Joe the freaking Plumber who represents everything that is wrong with America: shameless self-promotion and an incredible simplistic view of America and the world. And now Joe the freaking Plumber is going to run for Congress, is looking for a book deal and is going to be a country singer!!!! What happened to buying the plumbing company!!!!

But this is what the neocons have reduced this country to as far as the public discourse. Treat us like morons by having a power hungry unethical vice presidential candidate who was only selected because she wears a bra and a campaign surrogate who is a self-dealing moron!!!! John McCain's reputation continues to sink. It's just a question of how low can he go. There's 5 days to go and anything is possible. I can't wait until November 4th so this national nightmare can end!!!!! Obama/Biden 2008!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What's the Navy Hiding??

Today on The John Restaino Show one of the usual Fox empty heads questioned why the L.A. Times wouldn't release some tape fo Obama with Ayers and some Palestian guy. I ask this empty head why won't the Navy release these records!! Please read:http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/24/rick-sanchez-calls-out-me_n_137679.html

SHAME, SHAME ON MCCAIN & PALIN

Just when you think they can't get any lower, the McCain & Palin campaign may be responsible for the nonsense story of an attack by a black male Obama supporter on a white female McCain supporter. The story was reporter by Fox News and a Pittsburgh newspaper. CNN called Fox News out http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/24/rick-sanchez-calls-out-me_n_137679.html

However, why isn't the media investigating the role of the McCain campaign. Last night, MSNBC reported that it was the Communications Director of McCain's Pennsylvannia campaign that was spreading the story. Why isn't there more of a story on this??? Why isn't McCain and Palin forced to explain what happened?? Why isn't McCain forced to repudiate this???

Failure of the media to investigate this is a disgrace. But it also is just another example of the dishonorable campaign that McCain and the Palinazi has conducted this season. SHAME ON YOU JOHN MCCAIN!!!! YOU ARE A DISGRACE!!! YOU HAVE DISGRACED THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!!

The Rats Are Jumping Ship!!!!

Republicans are in a state of shock as the defections are mounting and now its being reported that McCain and Palin are feuding. In fact, the Grand Old Party is splitting and the conservative movement is in total disarray. McCain's come to Jesus moment yesterday is too little too late. Most campaigns want to be able to look in the mirror on election day and say that they have done everything they could to win. McCain will be looking in the mirror and kicking himself.

The McCain of 2000 would probably be in a neck and neck race right now. In fact, I would bet that he would be doing very well with Independents and Hillary-Democrats. But McCain on 2004 sold his soul to the neo-cons and now he doesn't know which way to turn which is why he lost it yesterday with the Washington Times. As late as the primary, he was boasting about what a strong supporter of Bush he was.

The Palin selection was a total joke and McCain in his heart of hearts know that he made mistake. This woman is a walking train wreck. She has no sense of the issues of the world and is the typical neo-con empty head that they love to manipulate. On top of the fact that while Hannity & Company drool over her, I wouldn't give the b@#$h a second look.

The conservative movement has lost its way because its soul has been stolen by the neo con fascists that are in the Bush Administration and our among the Palinazis. There are out of control and I can't wait for November 4th.

Breaking Up is Hard To Do??

Well, it appears that Ma & Pa Flip-Flop may be having a falling out. John McCain is probably coming to the realization that he should have trusted his own instinct on his Vice Presidential pick instead of selling his soul to the right-wing nuts of the Republican Party. Colin Powell Endorses Barack Obama

Colin Powell, one of the most respected military officials of our time, today endorsed Barack Obama for President. General Powell's rationale for supporting Sen. Obama was right on the mark. Powell also accurately described the problem with the Republican Party's narrowing of interest toward the radical right wing nut jobs that is symbolized by Sarah Palin and Michele Brachmann. Powell's characterization of Obama being a transformational figure which this country needs is again right on the money.

This very public endorsement should once and for all put to bed this whole William Ayers he supports terrorist crap that has been espoused by the Palinazis. As I already stated, this is the most respected military official in our time. Would he endorse someone who pals around with terrorists?? Would he endorse a socialist??? Would he endorse a communist??? Powell's endorsement puts this whole nonsense to rest.

I also enjoyed his expression of disgust over this whole Muslim debate. The story about the mother of a fallen soldier of the Iraqi war was quite moving and in my view dramatic. Her 20 year old son, born in New Jersey, was killed in Iraq and on his tombstone was the crescent and star. symbolic of the Islamic faith. This American hero was a Muslim. Powell's point was because someone is Muslim does not mean he his not American and patriotic.

I have always respected Colin Powell. I lost some respect for him when he went to the U.N. on behalf of George W. Bush. But today he has earned back my respect because he demonstrated what is lacking in public life today: the willingness to stand up for something you believe in regardless of your political party. His view of this country is what we as a nation has always been about until the last 8 years when we have lost our way. And what General Powell said today is that Barack Obama can bring us back on course!!!

Michele Bachmann: Palin-Nazi!!!!!

Michele Bachmann is typical of what the Republican neo-con right wing base nut jobs are all about. Her performance on Hardball last night was ridiculous!!!! Please read the following.

FRAUD: JOE THE PLUMBER

Well, does it surprise anyone??? The campaign that is based on mistruths and flat out lies had their candidate's most used punch line of his pitiful debate performance be based on a fraud. HMMM....coincidential....I doubt it. Joe the Plumber is not even a licensed plumber. In fact, he's basically a laborer who makes $40,000 and really has no intention of buying a plumbing business. In fact, the plumbing company that he has worked for is not for sale and according to its owner has never made more than $100,000. What a joke!!!! I will bet my bottom dollar that over the days ahead we will find out that Joe the Plumber was a plant to give McCain something to use at the debate. McCain desperately needed to try to hook up with the working and middle class. He even made some reference about it in a speech he gave in NewYork City yesterday.

The bottom line is that Joe the Plumber and the plumbing company he works for and has no intention to buy would both receive a reduction in taxes under Barack Obama's plan. This ridiculous stunt continues to lower this national campaign. It began with the selection of Sarah Palin and continues daily. The truth of the matter is that more and more Republicans are jumping ship. The RNC is pulling advertising out of Wisconsin and Maine.

Yet, we need to continue to work hard. We need to continue to talk to our neighbors, relatives and friends. We are up against an opponent who will do anything including putting a plant at an Obama rally and getting the national media to cover it. We need to keep taking it to them!!!! Vote Obama-Biden!!!!

Random Thoughts: Cindy McCain, Brian Grear

I find it hard to imagine Jackie Kennedy, Lady Bird Johnson, Pat Nixon, or Nancy Reagan being political attack dogs. But Cindy McCain is the latest female pit bull on the McCain campaign trail. Her attack is Obama not voting for funding the troops. However, several weeks after that first vote, McCain voted against funding for the troops. Did Cindy feel the same shivers down her back when her husband voted no to the troops?? I wonder how the two female pit bulls feel about McCain's terrible voting record on veteran issues? When I was watching the clips of this campaign stop for John and the female pit bulls it reminded me of the old WWE shows when the 4 Horsemen would come out and rant and rave about what bums the good guys were. John McCain, Sarah Palin and Cindy McCain: The Natural Disasters.

I don't usually comment on local politics but today I heard some things which I had to talk about. The so-called "Democrat" for state senate, Brian Grear participated in the Peach Festival parade. Interesting conversation among his volunteers was what a great candidate Sarah Palin was for vice president. Hmmm....volunteers for a Democratic state senate candidate think that Palin is a good candidate!!!!! Maybe they really are Republicans because Brian Grear is really a Republican!!!! It is an absolute disgrace that Brian Grear is the Democratic candidate for state senate. On top of that, what is the County Democratic party doing for the Obama campaign? Are they organizing any trips to Ohio or PA?? How about a get out the vote rally??? No they are too busy with the losing candidacy of a Republican in Democrat clothing for state senate. What a disgrace!!!! And you want to know why Niagara County is a laughing stock in state and national Democratic circles!!!!

Obama 3 McCain 0

If the Presidential election was a baseball game, we'd be entering the 7th inning stretch and the good guys are winning 3-0. Last night, Barack Obama demonstrated his ability to lead this nation and restore the American Dream. And he demonstrated that because he understands what it means. There are a few things that struck me last night which clearly illustrate the differences between the candidates.

The general disposition of John McCain was angry. While there seems to be the basic agreement that he must do something dramatically to rescue his failing candidacy, the strategy to "take the gloves off and keep the heels on" just doesn't seem to wear well with him. At times he sounds shrill. On the other hand, Barack's composure, thoughtfulness and understanding of the issues is evident and reminds one of JFK. In addition, he also proved that he can take a punch and deliver one too.

Which leads me to my next observation, Obama's comeback with "bomb, bomb,Iran" clearly made McCain look feeble. Especially, just before Obama delivered that line he praised McCain and McCain said thank you and then Obama pointed out the reckless comments that McCain has made on Iraq, North Korea and Afghanistan. McCain, trying to be cute by saying "thank you" set himself up and probably never thought that Obama would come at him that way but he did.

The difference in age was very evident last night. McCain truly came across as being out of touch while it was evident why Obama's appeal is so great. McCain's reference to Obama as "that one", when talking about a vote in the Senate was unbelievable and sounded like something my grandparents would have said.

During the last question, I thought Obama did an excellent job in telling his life story which illustrated his ability to understand what people are going through today be cause he lived economic struggles as a child. McCain's attempt to do the same just sounded hollow.

One other the thing that has really stuck with me, when the debate was over both candidates and their wives were on the stage. Both Barack and Michelle Obama went around and shook hands with the audience. McCain went around and shook hands but his wife did not. It was like it was beneath her to mix with the common folk. It's also worth noting that the Obamas stood there for awhile taking pictures and shaking hands with the audience while the McCain's made a qucik exit.

We have them on the run. Let's keep the heat on. Obama '08!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Stretch Run

We are now in the stretch run of the most important election of the last 20 years. The choice is clear: do we continue the policies of the worst administration in American history or do we bring back the American dream and promise at home and abroad. As Joe Biden eloquently stated the other night, McCain will continue leading us down the road of economic disaster without addressing our energy crisis and without addressing the health care crisis in this country. Not to mention that McCain will continue the reckless foreign policy og George W. Bush and Dick Cheney.

It's desperation time for old John McCain. And with this desperation, old grumpy McCain is going to come out as negative as possible. It's being reported by numerous sources that the McCain campaign is prepared to begin the slander attack on Barack Obama. Ayers, Rezko and Wright will be trotted out. They will pull out every dirty trick in Karl Rove's playbook.

The problem is that this same strategy did not work for Hillary Clinton during the primaries and hopefully it won't work now. MSNBC reported that most Americans want answers not angry ads. As Tom Brokaw stated, the McCain negative campaign could evry well backfire. Let's hope old Tom is right. The Democrats need to continue to pound away at the failed policies of McCain and Bush. Hopefully, this will be enough to keep people's attention focused on what matters.

Let's get to November 4th and take this country back. Vote Obama!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where's The Beef?????

In a debate with Walter Mondale, that great revered icon of conservatism Ronald Reagan asked the rhetorical question of Mondale, "Where's the beef?" Well tonight I ask the same question to Sarah Palin,"Where's the beef"?? In the most unbelievable display on the national stage, we witnessed what the McCain administration would be: sound bites and no substance while the American people suffer. Hmmm....sounds like the Bush Administration. Oops, I forgot we have to look forward.

What a total joke!! While Palin said that McCain would be different than Bush, she never told us how. The unbelievable audacity to talk about putting an end to greed and corruption on Wall Street, when her partner is Mr.Deregulation which caused Wall Street to run wild. I'm still waiting to hear how McCain's policy in Iraq is different than George Bush. I'm still waiting to hear how McCain's policy on energy, on health care and on Social Security are different than George Bush. The fact of the matter is that there is no difference and if there are differences I doubt that Palin knows what they are.

The only point of the night that she sounded half intelligent was when she talked about what she did as Mayor and Governor. Her assertion that the vice president should have more authority was simply outrageous. Even Senator Kit Bond (R) said that ain't happening. She obviously has no weakness or she doesn't understand what achilles heel means because she talked about her strengths. Hmmm..sounds like a former governor of Texas who currently resides in the White House and could not think of one thing he would do differently. I guess that's what happens when you are on a divine mission.

Senator Biden demonstrated the sound judgement of Barack Obama by selecting Biden as his running mate. He stunned Palin when he slammed away at the maverick by outlining specific policy issues where McCain was more Bush lap dog than maverick. Biden also showed his human side near the end of the debate where he again came back at her by describing his personal tragedy and the difficulty of being a single parent. What was amazing was the robotic way Palin reacted to that by basically ignoring it. I guess the coaches at the McCain estate in Sedona weren't prepared for that. Biden clearly showed that he would be able to lead this country if called upon while the same cannot be said for Palin.

Finally, the sickening folksy sayings and the winks were flat out annoying. I guess that's what works in beauty paegants. It's not going to work to determine who leads this country. The neocons love Palin because she can be controlled. Her depth of knowledge on the issues of the day are incredibly shallow and that was evident at the debate. As Ronnie said back in 1984, Ms. Palin "where's the beef!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Proof Is In The Pudding: Reagan Screwed Us!!!!

For 27 years, all we have heard is how great Ronald Reagan was as a president. Yes, he brought down that wall and presided over the end of the Cold War. But, today's financial crisis is the culmination of Reaganomics and the furthering of it by his disciples like John McCain. Cut the taxes for the rich and they will create jobs. Roll back regulatory requirements and the free market will take over and create prosperity. After all, government needs to get out of the private sectors way. And, let's not forget the assault on the unions that began with Reagan.

Well, 27 years later where are we??? The financial industry's own greed has it brought it down as the continued deregulation of Gramm and McCain has ruled the day. Further tax cuts for the rich has brought this nation to its knees with a runaway deficit as a result of the rich not paying their fair share and the Republican Administration's reckless spending that John McCain has supported 90% of the time. And by the way, job creation over the last 8 years has been the worst since Hoover. The working man is hanging on for dear life as unions are becoming less important and wages and benefits are not growing with expenses.

I remember the 80's and the economy sucked!!!! Reaganomics was a joke then and I feel vindicated because recent events have proven me right. The proof is in the pudding: Ronald Reagan screwed us!!! I hope all you conservatives are happy....

Round 1: Obama

Last night's debate showed the stark contrast between Barack Obama and McCain. Obama's presentation was thoughtful illustrating a complete understanding of our foreign policy situation and the understanding that middle class Americans are struggling. He was in control, did not lose his cool and was able to look at McCain. He definitely came off as presidential. McCain looked the one of the "angry old men" characters. His facial expressions were scary, very angry looking and the fact that he could not look at Obama was very noticeable. His grasp of the issues outlined why he should not be president. His assertion that Obama's position on the surge showed a stubborness that rivaled Bush was incredible from a guy that refuses to acknowledge that he was wrong on Iraq, wrong on deregulation, wrong on Afghanistan and wrong on Pakistan.

The other interesting point is that we now know what they are telling Palin. McCain's whole discussion on earmarks and cutting federal agencies were repeated during her interview with Charlie Gibson. McCain's references to being a maverick and not being Miss Congeniality were lame last night and Palin uses those lines all the time.McCain even referred to himself as "the Sheriff." It's one thing being called that by others but its another to be saying this stuff about oneself. It's rather disturbing coming from a 73 year old man.

With a little over a month to go, Barack needs to continue to hammer the need for change and continue to link Bush to McCain. If he does that he forces McCain into a difficult position. While he wants to talk about change, McCain also talks about experience. While he wants the Bushies support, he tries to distance himself which really looks awkward and disengenious since he has voted with Bush 90% of the time and is so bullish on the Iraq war.

Round 1 goes to Obama

McCain: A National Nightmare

Every four years Americans must decide who their President will be and who will be the leader of the free world. Campaigns are important because candidates tell us what they will do if elected. They in essence sell themselves. Typically, they put on their best face. Remember in 2000, George Bush the compassionate Conservative. Boy, were we in for a surprise!!!

This year, we are really getting to know about John McCain and what he would be like as President. First, the Sarah Palin pick was a total insult to the American people. This woman is not qualified to be vice president. Yet McCain chose her because he needed to energize the conservative base of the Republican Party and as a result energize the right wing 527 funding machines. So while his campaign is entitled "Country First", the Palin selection tells us that its "Winning First" because if he was looking out for the country he never would have selected Palin.

His sheilding of Palin from the media and his refusal to answer media questions show his contempt for us, the American people. How else are we to learn about his plans for our future and his vice presidential candidate's views on the issues of the day. Yet, he basically is telling us we only need to know what he wants us to know.

Yesterday, John McCain announces he's suspending his campaign and going to Washington to solve our economic problem. And by the way he's not going to the debate on Friday. Talk about being disingenious!! The truth of the matter is that McCain has had Paulson's proposal since last Thursday and on a Cleveland television station admitted that he had not read the proposal. Are you kidding me!!!! The guy who has contributed to the deregulation of the banking industry and Wall Street is going to save the day!!!! He's so concerned that he hadn't read the Treasury Secretary's proposal???? The real reason for the theatrics is because McCain wants to push back the debate so as to wipe out the Vice Presidential debate on October 2. He knows that you can put a lipstick on a pig but its still a pig!!!!!

The 26 year veteran, who campaigned on experience throughout the primaries, now is the candidate of change. The candidate who has voted with Bush 90% of the time is now the candidate of change????? The candidate who's campaign staff is loaded with lobbyists, including his campaign manager who has been receiving a monthly check for $15,000 from Fannie Mae, is now the candidate of change?????

So what does this all tell us??? It tells us that a McCain presidency will be hostile to the media. It will continue the good old boy lobbyist network. It will continue deregulation, including the health insurance industry. It will continue the culture of corruption and the politics of destruction. It will tell the American people only what they want the American people to know as opposed to the unvarnished truth. It tells us that a McCain presidency will say and do whatever it needs to in order to push its agenda regardless of the truth. It tells us that for another four years we will have a President who makes decisions with his gut. The McCain campaign tells us that McCain does not have the temperment to be President. A McCain presidency will continue the national nightmare that started in 2000.

Let's end the nightmare. Let's restore the American dream. Let's vote for a President who will inspire us to be the best we can be as a nation. Let's make sure that we elect Barack Obama!!!!

Trickle Down Doesn't Work!!!!!

Well, like a drunk hitting the wall after an all-night drinking binge, our economy could be on the verge of a total collapse. The Bush Administration, similar to the Iraq occupation, is looking for Congress to give it a blank $700 billion check. After watching some of Secretary Paulson's testimony before the Senate Banking Committee, its apparent that we are in serious trouble. But what bugs me is that we are expected to just go along without trying to correct the problem. And that problem is the de-regulation of the financial institutions of which John McCain and Phil Gramm were major architects.

As Barack Obama indicated in a speech on Monday, John McCain has suddenly become the great regulator. Hmmm... Here we go again, Pa Flip-Flop. If you are happy with the current financial situation then you should vote for Pa Flip-Flop McCain. And what really bugs me is when lower to middle class people have no problem with tax breaks for the rich. The notion that by giving them tax breaks they will reinvest and create jobs is a joke!!! It hasn't worked. It didn't work under Reagan and its not working now. Trickle down economics, Reaganomics doesn't work.

Keep in mind, Pa Flip-Flop's solution to the health care issue is to de-regulate the health care industry which would mean that American families will be at the mercy of health insurance companies. My bet would be that more people will not have health insurance coverage under Pa's plan.

This election is the most critical one of our time. Our beloved country is teetering on bankruptcy. Our standing in the world is at an all-time low. Our rights are being infringed upon at home. And the American Dream is becoming a thing of the past. Americans, now is the time to take back our country!!!! Wake Up!!!!!

Tuesday, September 23, 2008

When Does It End???

In today's NY Times, its reported that the McCain campaign has launched an attack on the Times stating that the paper was 150% in the Obama camp. Pleeeaassee!!!! We should not be surprised. While the economy is going to hell in a hand basket, McCain is worried about the Times. Earlier, the McCain campaign was complaining about the media being sexist when it was questioning his vice presidential selection. This is classic conservative strategy: attack the media in order to disarm it.

I'm beginning to wonder we as Americans will finally get a grip as to what is happening here. The past 8 years has shown that our government is trampling on our rights and our respectability around the world. We are growing more and more intolerant both within our country and outside of it. And with a McCain presidency, this downward spiral will continue. What's equally disturbing is that the mainstream media has played right into this.

Yesterday, on the Bill Press Show, Bill pointed out the inconsistencies of this election as it relates to the coverage on the candidates. For example, the candidate (Obama) who was raised by his grandparents in Hawaii is veiwed as exotic while the candidate (Palin) who lives in Alaska and eats moose is considered an All-American. One candidate's patriotism is questioned because he doesn't wear a flag pin, the other is a true American even though their spouse belongs to a group that wants to secede from the union. I think you get the point.

This election will be a critical one because it will indicate where we are as a nation. Are we a nation that can get through the crap that is spewed by Rove and company and its media surrogates or are we content to be the Ugly Americans. Hopefully, on November 4th this assault on America ends.

Straight Talk Express Road Kill

Well word out of the McCain camp is that surrogate Carly Fiorina has been thrown off and ran over by the Straight Talk Express. Who is Carly Fiorina? Ms. Fiorino has been on various talk shows shilling for John McCain throughout this campaign. In fact, some people were saying that she was a possible v.p. pick. She is also the former CEO of Hewlett-Packard, who ran her out of the company. As thanks for bringing the company to its knees, she was given a $21 million golden parachute. Its ironic because just recently it was announced that 25,000 people were being laid-off at Hewlett-Packard.

Yesterday, Ms. Fiorino told the truth when she was asked if Sarah Palin could be the CEO of Hewlett-Packard. Her answer: no she couldn't be CEO but she's not running for that. HMMM...interesting comment indeed. First, she's right. Sarah Palin could not run HP and she's not qualified to be vice president. Almost as important, Fiorino must really think little of government when she implies that Palin could run the country but not HP. This is someone McCain trusts to speak on his behalf???

Fiorino tried to backpedal by saying none of the 4 people could be CEO. For all of this, CNN is reporting that the McCain campaign will not have Fiorino representing them. In fact, it was reported that McCain's legendary temper reared its ugly head when he heard about Sweet Carly's comments. Fiorino joins Phil Gramm as road kill of the Straight Talk Express.

Palin, Gramm, Fiorino. These are McCain's choices for his campaign. Can you imagine who would populate a McCain Administration???? Heaven help us!!!!!!!!!!!

McCain's Waffle House

Earlier this year, John McCain was all about experience. 26 years in the Senate, extensive foreign policy experience, working with his colleagues across the aisle. Do you remember this?? As summer came upon us, someone must have told old Pa Flip-Flop McCain that experience wasn't working. It ultimately did not work for Hillary. You see this election is about change. So Pa's handlers decide that they must hijack the change message. It starts by selecting Sarah Palin a.k.a Ma Flip-Flop and it continues with Pa making the incredulous claim that he now is about change. Are you kidding me!!!!!

Change from a guy who has voted over 90% of the time with George W. Bush? Change from this 26 year veteran of the Senate who hasn't met a lobbyist he didn't like? Change from a candidate who just recently said the economy is strong? Change from a candidate who is more committed to our presence in Iraq than the dunderheads who put us in there in the first place? Change from a candidate who has enlisted the same neo-cons to rescue his failing campaign that gave us the last 8 years of disgrace?

We know that Pa Flip Flop McCain has 8 houses. Sounds like Waffle Houses are growing. Hopefully, it won't extend to the White House.

The Flip-Flop Party = McCain\Palin

Remember the 2004 Election when John Kerry was called a flip flopper? You know I voted for it before I voted against it? It was a very effective strategy. The party that brought us this brilliant campaign slogan now has at the head of its ticket Pa & Ma Flip-Flop.

John McCain in denounced the right-wing evangelical movement headed by Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell during the 2000 Presidential campaign. Pa Flip-Flop McCain now kowtows to the same group calling Rev Hagee a spiritual advisor, not to mention his selection of Sarah Palin.

John McCain was on the record as being opposed to the Bush tax-cuts. He believed that during a time of war everyone needed to sacrifice. Now during this campaign, Pa Flip-Flop McCain has decided that not only are the Bush tax-cuts necessary he's going to continue them. Apparently, now only the middle class and the poor have to sacrifice during a time of war.

John McCain stated that he was against torture. Having personally gone through it, he recognized that it provided inaccurate information and that it violated our principles as Americans. Pa Flip-Flop McCain now believes that torture is justified to keep the homeland safe.

Sarah Palin was for the Bridge to Knowwhere when she was campaigning for governor. Ma Flip-Flop tells us now she was against it. Sarah Palin actively pursued earmarks (pork barrel ) for her town. Ma Flip-Flop is now going to save our economy by eliminating earmarks.

Detect a pattern??? If they can't get their stories straight before they get in office can you imagine what will happen if they get elected????? Heaven help us!!!!!

The Right-Wing Corporate Media

This campaign is proving that the liberal media is a fallacy. Other than Air America, Ed Schultz, Keith Olbermann, Bill Press, Randi Rhodes, the NY Times and locally John Restaino, the media is dominated by conservative Republican shills. FOX is the number one culprit, closely followed by that pillar of journalism, Rush Limbaugh. Locally, between Sandy Beach, Tom Bauerle and Kenny Hamilton (and lets not forget Scott Leffler) the coverage is pro-Republican. The ridiculous idolizing of Sarah Palin, a know-nothing empty head, and the overlooking of the inconsistency of John McCain illustrates it. In addition, the incredible focus on Barack Obama's pastor, his patriotism and his wife, also illustrates it especially since the same focus has not been given to Governor Palin and McCain.

Look at what has happened at MSNBC. Keith Olbermann is removed from the anchor desk of the network's election coverage because the parent company, NBC, did not like the criticism of the RNC. What happened to the media standing up to the power structure? If Woodward and Bernstein had to operate in today's society, Watergate would never have been uncovered. Of course in the 70's, the major media markets were diverse and not controlled by a small number of companies.

This is important because it will be important for all of us lefties to make sure the word gets out. Through the internet or letters to the editor, we need to blunt the crap that is spewed by the power elite media. This election is probably the most important one in the last 30 years. We either move forward and take our country back and restore America's greatness around the world or we continue down the road of intolerance at homea nd isolation around the world. It will not be easy, especially since we are fighting not only Conservatives but also the right-wing Conservative corporate media.

ENOUGH!!!!!!!

In his speech at the Democratic Convention, Barack Obama sternly said "Enough" referring to the reckless policies of the Bush/McCain party. But now we lefties are saying to Barack and Biden: "ENOUGH"!!!! It's time to take the gloves off. To allow McCain/Palin to dictate this race is ridiculous. To allow Republicans to call Palin's lack of credibility sexist is ridiculous. There are legitimate policy questions as it pertains to the McCain/Palin ticket. This may be one of the most right-wing ticket this side of Barry Goldwater.

Obama and Biden need to call them out and they need to do it now!!! It's been published that maybe Obama made a mistake by not letting the 527's get involved. There is concern that the vast internet donor advantage that Obama has enjoyed has become sluggish. How that gets energized is by going after McCain/Palin. For many of us lefties, we've seen this story before. We need to come out swinging.

The unbelievable right-wing, evangelical background of Sarah Palin makes George Bush seem like an atheist. Is this where we want to go as a country?? How does this help our relations with other countries that are not Christian???

Barack go after them!! Paint the picture that they are: extremists who will not only continue down the disasterous road of George Bush but make it worse. Runaway spending, further isolation and no real solutions to the great domestic issues of our time: health care and energy/environment.

It is time. The fierce urgency of now!!! We can do this but we need to go after them!!! Barack and Joe its time to come out swinging!!!!!

The G.O.P. set women back 50 years

In their ridiculous attempt to court women voters, the Republican Party picked a former beauty queen who's lack of grasp of our nation's problems is absolutely disturbing. What's more disturbing is that she has the audacity to compare herself to Hillary or Geraldine Ferraro. Sarah Palin is a bad joke.

In addition, to being completely unqualified the G.O.P. has taken upon themselves to attack the media for being sexist. Being sexist is calling out the Gov's position's on issues that she dealt with in Alaska? Being sexist is calling into question her abuse of power by using her office to get her ex-brother-in-law fired? Being sexist is looking into the teachings of her pastor and her past dealings with an unpatriotic organization in Alaska? Being sexist is calling into account her experience??

Funny, it seems like these questions aren't being sexist but are the types of questions any candidate for public office has to face, particularly for President or Vice President whether they are male or female. I get it, I want to play tackle football with the boys but I don't want to get hit. I guess Republicans have decided they are going to play the "sex" card.

To me being sexist is talking about lipstick being the only difference between oneself and a pit bull. It seems to me that being sexist is distributing buttons saying "Hottest V.P." Somehow I don't remember these buttons when Lieberman was Gore's V.P. Maybe I stand corrected, McCain maybe had these buttons really for Lieberman.

What the Republicans have done is reduce this VP candidate to nothing more than their trophy V.P. She is the typical stereotype, she got the job because of her looks not because of her brains. What a disgrace!!

On another note, thanks to The John Restaino Show for plugging this blog today. If you are a lefty, you need to listen to the program. Really enjoy it and I will continue to listen. By the way, how much is Kenny Hamilton getting paid by the RNC?????

The more about Sarah Palin and local nut-jobs

It was only a matter of time before more information came out about Sarah Palin. Forget about her daughter Bristol's pregnancy. It's a non-issue. What's of more concern is the following: She was less than truthful about her opposition to the Bridge to Nowhere. In fact she supported it then opposed it. She received campaign contributions from the same people who supported Senator Stevens of Alaska who is under investigation. She is being investigated for misusing her authority as Governor to try to get her ex-brother-in-law fired. She was a member of the Alaska Independence Party which calls for Alaska to secede from the union. And finally, Palin's pastor Ed Kalnins said that those who voted for John Kerry were facing eternal damnation and that Jesus calls for us to be in constant war mode against terrorists.

If she was vetted, it certainly calls into question McCain's people who did the research. If Rev. Wright was a problem for Obama, then Rev. Kalnins is right there for Palin. If the right calls into question Michele Obama's patriotism, one has to call into question the patriotism of Palin who belonged to a political party that advocates secession. McCain's first big decision is looking like a disaster.

On a local note, there is a radio show on a local radio station which has a decidedly lefty bent. The John Restaino Show does a great job in articulating the progressive agenda and the host does a great job in calling out conservatives. Recently, the host called into question Palin and the G.O.P.'s stand on family values when the revelation of her pregnant 17 yr old daughter hit the papers. He never made a disparaging remark about Palin's daughter. He just pointed out the "do as I say not do as I do" mentality of the G.O.P.

The host was then attacked by a wacko right-wing nut who called into question whether the host had a child out-of-wedlock. This is typical right-wing crap. Last time I checked, a talk show host on little WJJL radio is not running for Vice President of the United States. But I bet he has as much business doing so as Sarah Palin. For one thing he's right on the issues. Hang in there John. These wackos want to silence you. It's a disgrace plain and simple.

McCain-Palin: Another Error In Judgement

The selection of Governor Sarah Palin as John McCain's running mate once again calls into question McCain's judgement. A former mayor of a town of 9,000 is qualified to be a heart beat away from the Presidency??? Reports indicate that McCain met Sarah Palin once before offering the v.p. post. Leading up to Friday, McCain said his choice would be someone who he was comfortable with. Wow, their only meeting must have really been something!!

What's more plausible is that again the proclaimed maverick has kowtowed to the extremist Rovian element of the Republican party. John McCain is making a mockery of himself. On top of that, with this selection he has done a disservice to his party and our country. This woman is not prepared to be Commander-In-Chief. This selection was a stunt to focus attention on hot button issues, such as abortion, which masks the real problems of today: health care, energy, Iraq, the ecenomy and the War on Terror.

The next two months will illustrate how ridiculous this selection is and hopefully the American people will show Senator McCain the road to the Bridge to Nowhere. I'm Sure Governor Palin knows where that is!!!
