Add Up The Damage of George W. Bush

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/30/opinion/30herbert.html?_r=1&em Read this article and remember it when the neocons try to rewrite history (as they are attempting to do now) about what a great president Bush was.

Random thoughts for a Thursday Evening

As I'm watching the N.U. game some thoughts have come to mind:

1.) Isn't it interesting that you have heard nothing from the mainstream media about Sen. Carl Levin's call for an independent bipartisan Commission to investigate the approval of torture by the Bush Administration. At the end of the day, it could result in criminal proceedings of the likes of Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice and Gonzalez. Not one mention of this!!!

2.) I'm tired of the people who are advocating the importance of naming a WNYer to fill Hillary's Senate seat. I like Brian Higgins and Byron Brown but they would be no match for a downstate Republican whether its King or Giuliani. The experience charge against Caroline Kennedy is lame. Did Hillary ever get elected to political office before she became Senator?? This is about putting someone in that spot who can bring about change, is honest, has good judgment and has an ear in the White House. Seems like Caroline's our girl.

3.) As I have predicted over and over, the neo-cons cannot accept the fact that Barack Obama is President. They want to continue to bash away. The ant-American swines that they are!!!!! You don't have to go far to find them, just listen to the John Restaino Show. Between Al and "Billo the Clown Jr." Del its totally ridiculous. I don't know how you do it John!!!

4.) I really believe that the revisionist history currently going on to try to make Bush look decent is ridiculous. What's more ridiculous is that Bush is actually leading the charge. The guy's delusional!!!

5.) Niagara wins 67-62!!!!

$50B Down The Sink Hole In Iraq, None For The American Auto Industry

$50 billion spent on failed rebuilding projects in Iraq, yet the G.O.P. won't spend $15 billion for the American Auto Industry to save American jobs. On top of the fact that the $50 billion was misspent and did not accomplish anything. Let's hear if there is any neo-con outrage about this misuse of American taxpayer dollars!!!!

Wright, Ayers, Blogo: Enough All Ready, YOU LOST!!!!!

The revelations of the Senate seat for sale scheme by Governor Blogo of Illinois has provided the latest opportunity for the neo-con Republican Party to try to discredit and tear down President-Elect Barack Obama. It's sad that this is what the Grand Old Party has relegated itself too but it is a prelude of what the next 4 years will be from these vicious power hungry neo-con terrorists.

Let's examine what we know. Gov. Blogo has been under investigation for months, prior to the November election. The investigation centered around kick backs for the awarding of state contracts and state jobs. Many believe that Prosecutor Fitzgerald came out with this indictment to prevent a tainted Senate appointment. In fact, many in the legal community are saying that the Senate seat indictment is probably the weakest of what Fitzgerald has on the delusional Blogo.

We know that Fitzgerald has said that President-Elect Obama is not being investigated nor is he on any of the tapes that has been amassed against the Governor. In fact, Blogo is caught on tape cursing Obama.

Now the big swirling controversy is whether or not anyone on Obama's staff is involved with Blogo. Specifically, the focus is on Rahim Emanuel. Is it out of the realm of possibility that Emanuel or anyone else on Obama's team had a conversation about the Senate seat with the Governor??? It would seem that it would only be a normal course of business that this would happen in that Emanuel is pretty adept at Illinois politics and if I were Governor I would certainly want input as to who would be a successful choice. If there was some sort of deal making, quid pro quo between Emanuel or any other Obama staffer why wouldn't it have come out??? We know that candidate #5 is Jesse Jackson Jr. Fitzgerald is a no nonsense prosecutor. If there was more involved we would know about it.

So where does this all leave us??? The neo-con shills in the media and the dopes who run the Republican Party are going to beat the drum: See we were right, we don't know everything about this Obama guy. Change my eye, he's another crooked Illinois politician. Remember Tony Rezko?? This is happening right here in our own backyard. Look at the latest post on niagaratimes.com.

Instead of getting the message that an overwhelming majority of this country have rejected their neo-conservative, religious right-wing extremist position, they are intent on tearing down the new President. In a previous post I warned that this is what would happen. Remember Whitewater and Ken Starr??? The Limbaughs and Hannitys of the world will continue to talk about this for months, always casting a cloud on what is on those tapes. How come Emanuel won't come clean? Shouldn't there be an investigation?? Is Obama telling the truth???

Where is the outrage over Donald Rumsfeld authorizing torture at Guantanamo Bay?? Where is the outrage over Cheney, Rove and Libby outing a CIA agent?? Where is the outrage over Bush approving the torture policy?? Where is the outrage over Bush pardoning Libby?? Where is the outrage over the thousands of no-bid contracts that the Bush/Cheney Administration has handed out to its cronies??? Where is the outrage at the Party of Stevens, DeLay, Foley, Craig and Duke Cunningham??? Where is the outrage over the total disregard for the people of New Orleans during Katrina??? Where is the outrage over Abu Graib?? Where is the outrage for the pay for influence scheme involving Jack Abramoff??? Where is the outrage over the flat out lies used to justify going into Iraq which has cost us over 3500 American lives, many more permanently injured and $12 billion dollars a month??? And finally, where is the outrage over the fact that the neo-con chicken hawks allowed Osama Bin Laden, the mastermind that killed 3,000 American on Sept.11, to get away???

We are facing an economic crisis which threatens the very fabric of our country. We have witnessed the total disregard for this crisis by the callous disregard for the American auto industry by the likes of Vitter, Shelby, Corker, McConnell and company. Yet, we are going to focus on Gov.Blogo and look to continue rumor and innuendo that somehow or another President-Elect Obama is involved when the facts don't support it. ENOUGH!!! YOU LOST!!! The latest polls indicate that Obama has one of the highest approval ratings of any incoming President. Once again, the neo-cons are out of touch with the American people. Americans want leadership. Americans want solutions. Americans want an end to the partisan crap that has dominated Wasington for 20 years.

As lefties, we need to go after these neo-con windbags whenever we need to. No blatant lie can go unanswered just like during the campaign. They will try everything in their power to discredit Obama. They did the same thing to Clinton. The neo-con right wing religious fanatics are like trapped rats. And when a rat is trapped they will attack. We must be ready!!!

The Civil War Again: The Auto Bailout!!!!

Senate Republicans opposition to the $14 billion bailout is the re-enactment of the Civil War. Corkum and Shelby, the new Jefferson Davis and Robert E. Lee, are the biggest hypocrites going. The fact of the matter is that federal dollars were used to build the Toyota and Honda plants in their home states. I don't recall any outrage about federal dollars being used then?

The frontal assault on the UAW is a joke. Look, I'm not going to deny that the union had lived high off the hog but so had management. The UAW has made concessions and are continuing to do so. But what has the upper management and corporate shareholders of Chrysler and GM given back??? They each have their own jets??? Are you kidding me???

Corkum, Shelby, Vitter and company are hypocritical, un-American political terrorists!!! They are willing to let this industry and the economy go to hell in order to break the union and protect their state interests. To hell with the working man of the Northeast and Midwest!!! Screw those yankees!!! These political terrorists should be ashamed of themselves. Isn't it funny but the Big 3 has to jump through hoops but Wall Street, the banks and the rest of the corporate bastards got billions with NO STRINGS!!!

Where is the outrage from these cost conscious conservative windbags when Bush and company are spending $12 billion a month in Iraq!!! And we can't spend $14 billion to save American jobs and the American auto industry!!!!

I'm so tired of the double standard by these right wing pompous do-nothings. This is why we need to keep the heat on and continue to fight. Hopefully, Bush will have a conscience and do the right thing by taking money from the Wall Street bailout and diverting it to the auto industry. That should hold us over until after January.

P.S.: Look for my next blog on the Illinois governor scandal. If you think I'm upset now wait for that one!!!!!

Bush's Last Days No Different Than The Rest

The last two and a half months of the disasterous Bush presidency is a microcosm of the entire 8 years: a total lack of leadership. At a time when the country needs leadership, Bush is lamenting that he will be losing his chef!! But what do you expect from a man who never understood his responsibility when he became president. After 9/11, instead of asking Americans to sacrifice for the sake of security he told us to go shopping. Instead of challenging us to be more concerned about the environment, he totally refuted the Kyoto protocols and had the energy industry establish environmental policy. Eveything you read about this president we find that he is not intellectually curious and in fact is rather simplistic. This is scary because we are dealing with complicated times that requires insightful and skilled leadership. And that is why we find ourselves in the mess that we are in both at home and abroad. These past 8 years we have hada president who has governed as if he was in charge of a frat house. Just looking to take what he could. What a shame!!! But there is hope. Unfortunately we have until January 20th and who knows what more damage can be done by this moron who continues to exhibit no leadership. But why should we expect anything different now. What a disgrace!!!

Caroline Kennedy For U.S. Senate

Democratic sources are reporting that Caroline Kennedy has expressed interest in succeeding Hillary Clinton and I say Governor just do it!!!! Kennedy's support for President Obama could help the state dramatically if she were to be our junior senator. I don't buy the crap that it needs to be an upstater. We need someone who can deliver and Caroline Kennedy will be able to do that. I'm ready to go: Caroline in 2010!!!!!!!

Bob Confer: Are You kidding Me!!!!!!

Reading the Niagara Gazette this morning was rather enlightning while at the same time disturbing. Bob Confer, who writes a regular guest view for the paper, in today's paper has an article entitled, "Obama discriminates against gun owners". While I don't often agree with Mr.Confer I respect his view and find him to be a rational person who cares about what's going on around him. This guest view disappoints me because it seems to be the typical right-wing nonsense that has been spewed throughout the campaign and since the election results were in. First, let me say that I know Confer has nothing to do with the headline attached to his column. But the content of the article belongs to Confer.

The criticism about a question on the application for employment in the Obama administration I found ridiculous. Mr. Confer implies that ownership of a gun immediately disqualifies one from employment. What's the basis for that??? I find nothing wrong with knowing that a future employee has registered guns, how he uses the guns and whether there has been any injuries inflicted by them. There is nothing wrong with law-abiding gun owners who hunt. And what's the problem with addressing if anyone was injured with the guns???

Confer really ramps up the right wing rhetoric by saying that when the President takes the oath of office it will be an outright lie because of his contempt for the 2nd Amendment. Are you kidding me???? Especially when we have had 8 years of an administration which has trampled on the Constitution!!!! And I know Mr. Confer will say that he doesn't support Bush but to behonest I don't really buy that. If I had to bet he probably voted for Bush in 2000 and 2004.

Obama's against self-protection. Obama's against hunters. Obama wants to outright ban guns. C'mon Bob!!!! I really didn't think you were a right wing shill but I guess you were wrong. I'm sure the next article will be that Obama is a socialist because he wants a $700 billion economic stimulus package. So keep on buying guns. Stockpile them Bob. Next time you talk with a law enforcement official, ask them if they have a problem with the Clinton gun policy. I think you will be surprised.

And by the way, while you are worrying about guns, I'm worried about the mess at home and abroad that President-Elect Obama has inherited from Mr. Bush. That's what affects my life and many more around the world. Happy shooting Bob!!!!!
